Welcome to my website! I'm Tema, a third-generation Torontonian, who returned to Toronto in 2008 and have since, personally and professionally, dedicated my skills and conviction to Toronto’s Jewish community. I am currently the Director of Community Engagement at Holy Blossom Temple after working at Congregation Darchei Noam for four years, as the Manager of Membership and Communications. I am a member of the inaugural cohort of the Interfaith Families Jewish Education Certificate at Hebrew College, where I studied as a Crown Family IFJE Fellow.

As a volunteer, I sit on the Programming Committee of the New Israel Fund of Canada, and am the Communications Team Lead for the Canadian Spondylitis Association.

I'm a sought after speaker on issues of Jewish diversity, and I have presented or facilitated conversations at events such as the Toronto Jewish Film Festival, Limmud Toronto, and Where Sinai Meets Spadina: Downtown Tikkun Leyl Shavuot

Professionally, I am affiliated with Be’chol Lashon, an organization that advocates for ethnic, cultural, and racial inclusiveness in the Jewish community. I was also a Professional Affiliate of Big Tent Judaism, an organization dedicated to creating pathways to Jewish life for those who feel unaffiliated, marginalized, or disenfranchised from mainstream Jewish life, until its closure in 2016.

I formerly held the roles of Programming Co–Chair at Limmud Toronto, Programming Coordinator of Makom: Creative Downtown Judaism, and Project Coordinator of the Canadian National Task Force on Holocaust Education, Remembrance and Research

I hold a BA (Hon) in Cultural Studies and Philosophy from Trent University, and was a Master’s student under the Canada Research Chair in Modern Jewish Thought at McMaster University. I have also studied as a visiting graduate student at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
